Our Client is a Financial Services firm that has deployed the following services in Azure: VNET, VNET GW, Express Route, WAF, LB, 4 Web Applications, 30 Servers, VPN, AVD, 4 SQL PaaS, Bastion Host, Security Center, Defender Endpoints, Log Analytics, LogicMonitor We are providing full Intelligent Managed Services for this client including:

HIGHLIGHTS
#1 Excellent Technical Support
- Core Application VM rebooted with no reason.
- Customer was proactively notified of the event and the support team is reviewing the details
- Support team logged into Az Environment and began reviewing logs in Log Analytics and LogicMonitor to determine the cause
- Determined that an application fault had occurred due to a memory leak
- Notified customer of the issue and worked with their team to document the issue for their devs to resolve
#2 Deployments at the Speed of Cloud
The customer requested the deployment of 3 new VMs for a new application and 1 PaaS SQL Service
- Utilizing prebuilt disk Images, the Support Engineer deployed the new VMs using Microsoft Bicep Infrastructure as Code. Deployment was completed within 5 hours of receipt of the request to deploy.
- Took a call with the customer to determine requirements for the SQL PaaS service. Did they need dedicated compute, or could this be pooled? What was the anticipated size? Did they want redundancy?
- Deployed the SQL PaaS instance using the details from the customer. Task was completed in 24 hours after receipt of the request.
#3 We outlined for the Customer the reason for an observed 25% increase in consumption MoM.
Highlighted in the Monthly Report:
- Unauthorized VM Creation: Two VMs created by dev team (untagged resources were the key) and 8 TB of Managed Disks attached to the VMs
- Excessive Egress Charges: Discovered a VM that was sending multiple TB of data to an on-prem computer resulting in a significant increase in Egress charges
We discussed ways to address cost controls for the specific cost overruns observed
- Created an Azure Policy that restricts Developers to 1 type of VM with 1 managed disk sku available to attach
- Set up an Alert to identify excessive data transfers to help prevent further egregious egress expenses
